Extraordinary October – Safari Pictures of the Month

As October draws to a close, I thought it would be interesting to compile a couple of the more remarkable pictures we received this month from returning safari guests. I have included some of the more unique shots received or the ones that just plain made me smile. All pictures below were taken while on safari with African Dream Safaris during October 2012.

  1. Not counting today I have 145 days until I leave for my Safari and I can’t wait. Soon I will count the hours These photos (and all the others from earliers newsletters) just make is so much easier to dream of what there is to see! Thanks to all of the photographers for sharing, the photos are truly amazing and beautiful!

    1. 145 days will go by quickly as 2013 is right around the corner. I saw holiday decorations at the store the other day! You don’t have much longer before seeing the Serengeti yourself. All these pictures are certainly amazing BUT no photo or video does the Serengeti justice. It must be seen first-hand to be truly appreciated. The sights, sounds, endless vistas and, of course, the many different species of large animals all coexisting is spectacular.

    1. Hi Debra,

Great to hear you are still thinking about your safari! I think it’s about a year now since your trip.

  2. Our 10-day safari is booked for April 23, 2014. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to wait another 18 months but I’m hoping the time passes quickly! It’s been a lifetime dream of mine to go on safari…can’t wait!!!

      1. We planned ours about that far ahead and now we are back and wanting to return! There really are no words to describe the Serengeti.

  3. Hoping to book a safari for Sept. 2013 with Lynn. Have been viewing these wonderful photos from travelers and staff with African Dream Safaris for about 2 years now. Ready to go..

    1. If September 2013 turns out to be half as good as September 2012, I am sure you will be thrilled with your african safari. We really had exceptional game viewing this year. Note that the game viewing opportunities one can find in October are very similar to those in September. Not much difference between those two months in terms of both weather and wildlife movements.

  4. Going on an African Safari has been a life long dream for me..#1 on my bucket list. My niece & I leave on Feb. 2nd…we have been counting the months since we booked with Sharon. Now we are counting the days. And they are going fast….still have to figure out clothes & packing. We are so excited.

  5. 2013 is our year for a safari, it could stretch out to 2014 if there are good reasons Would like to avoid excessive crowds and heat/humidity (we live in TX and have enough of that at home, I would not come to TX during June,July,Aug.and only maybe September). Have looked over your monthly planner and had pretty much settled on October but was recently told early Sept would be better since camps are not crowded and less heat/humidity, so many choices it is hard to make a decision. Hoping for a 10-12 day on the ground safari (excluding flights) What would be the difference/advantages in location/weather/cost between going in early September or end September/early October/or pretty much anytime except rainy? We have a very flexible schedule and would like to make airline reservations very soon. Thanks

    1. Hi Kelly!

Thanks for all the great information regarding your safari plans! Weather and game viewing conditions in September and October are nearly identical in this part of Africa. I just sent you an email with with a new sample proposal attached. Please have a look and let me know if you have any questions! Can’t wait to help you turn this dream safari into a reality!!
