Lodge Overview
The intimate and luxurious accommodations of Governor's IL Moran Camp line the winding banks of the Mara River in a prime game viewing location. The permanent canvas structures that make up each private room are spacious and comfortable, with en suite bathrooms that leave little to be desired. Wash away safari dust with piping hot water from the shower or soak in the dreamy Victorian style bath. A massive olive-wood bed, created from fallen timber, invites the weary traveler to sink into soft African dreams at the conclusion of each exciting day.
Created to imitate the atmosphere of the original African hunting camps, IL Moran is decorated in authentic safari style with simplicity and an understated elegance that is a breath of fresh air. Leave behind all the rush and complexities of civilization and melt into the natural rhythms of ancient wilderness. Watch for hippos or crocodiles from your private veranda as the Mara River glides slowly by.
Enjoy daily game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle with professional guides, and you may choose to partake in guided nature walks as well. Sometimes the animals will come to the camp to find you - elephants have been known to occasionally wander through the camp and at night you will hear all the nocturnal sounds of the primal African wilderness. With its luxurious amenities, intimate size, exclusive location, and VIP service, at Governor's IL Moran Camp you can truly expect to feel like royalty.
Location
IL Moran is situated along the banks of the Mara River, in the northern corner of the pristine Mara Triangle. Each private tent offers a view of the Mara River.
Accommodations
Accommodations include just 10 private canvas pavilions, each appointed with luxurious furnishings such as a king size bed framed in olive timber, a Victorian style bath, a "rain fall" type shower, a small wooden writing desk. The interior of each tent also includes a double basin vanity and flushing toilet. Morning chill is nipped from the polished floors by uniquely designed bamboo mates and colorful area rugs. A private dining table is placed on the extended stone veranda at each tent, allowing guests the option of having private meals together in cool outdoor ambience. Two of the 10 tents even have ramps up the private stone veranda for wheelchairs.
Food and Drink
Do you have to choose between delicious food and authentic ambience? Not at Il Moran. The food at IL Moran is an excellent example of the finest cuisine available in the bush. You might be far from civilization, but this does not mean you have to sacrifice style. During the day, meals are served outside in the shade, underneath the leafy canopy of trees that line the Mara River while you watch for crocodiles or hippos. Breakfast and lunch include a variety of options and are served buffet style. Delicious cordon-blue dinners are served by candlelight underneath the silver light of a starry African sky.
