Arusha Coffee Lodge is the most luxurious lodge available in Arusha, the gateway city to the famous national parks of Tanzania. This Lodge is the eclectic result of what happens when old meets new, traditional meets contemporary and luxury meets eccentricity. And it all works together beautifully! Curious? Good! Arusha Coffee Lodge is an absolutely wonderful place to begin and end your adventure in Tanzania. After the long international flight, your travel efforts will be well-rewarded by this cozy and serene retreat built around a working coffee plantation. Excellent food, comfortable furnishings and superb coffee will provide the rest and preparation needed before you embark on your African Dream Safari. But this lodge is more than just a logistical stop-off before or after a journey. It is a destination itself!

The lodge consists of 30 luxury chalets, each of which is creatively decorated. Each chalet is spaced throughout the lush coffee grove to ensure privacy and solitude. The beds are very comfortable and furnishings are top quality with lots of interesting coffee themed artifacts. There is even a little sitting room with couch and chairs off from the bedroom. The bathrooms are grand with beautiful fixtures including bath and shower.

The cottages are linked to the main buildings by a maze of rocked pathways that weave throughout the chalets and coffee plants. The main lodge structure and area is surprisingly large and interesting. There is a nice swimming pool and spa area behind the reception and restaurant. The gift shop is located in this main complex and houses some great gift ideas. The lodge also has a wonderful bar and lounge area which offers a great atmosphere.
Oh! And did we mention the coffee? Yes, Arusha Coffee Lodge is built on the largest working coffee plantation in Tanzania, and the guest chalets are spaced amidst an expansive patchwork of these berry-laden plants. Coffee beans are the theme here, and you’ll see them everywhere from turn-down service to actually being embedded within some of the glass furnishings of your room. If you are a coffee drinker, you have found your guilty pleasure here. Location

Arusha Coffee Lodge is located on the outskirts of the charming city of Arusha and is about 60 minutes by car from Kilimanjaro International Airport. The lodge is conveniently located about 5 minutes away from the Arusha airstrip, which is the main hub for all the intra Tanzania flights to and from the famous game parks. It is also relatively close in proximity to several good shopping areas.

The new guest chalets of this boutique hotel have been designed with sublime luxury in mind for the ultimate in comfort and relaxation. The interior décor has a traditional yet eclectic style that adds both class and charm. An oversized canopy bed draped in gauze steals the spotlight. Blanketed in lavish fabrics, a plush duvet and crisp cotton linens, the bed entices the weary traveler to sink into dreamy bliss.

An opulent crystal chandelier hangs above the sunken living room and casts a subtle sheen on the embroidered silk tapestries of taupe and cranberry that drape over the French door entryway. Hues of moss and kelly-green furniture accentuate the rich wooden floor, and bamboo screens over the windows can be adjusted to filter in just the right amount of sunlight. A self serve coffee and tea tray boast a plate of fresh fruit, and a mini bar offers convenient access to extra beverages and snacks.

The bathroom glistens with floor-ceiling glass doors, a gleaming porcelain bathtub and glinting chrome fixtures. The feeling of space and light extend outside to a private sunning deck complete with cushioned lounge furniture and an outdoor fireplace. The double vanity in the bathroom boasts an oversized basin and lighted countertop. One of the most attractive features is the private wooden deck attached to each chalet which overlooks the coffee plantation.

As the majority of arrivals are at night, the outdoor deck offers a great morning spot to experience your first sights and sounds of Africa. You might spot the first wildlife of your safari as vervet monkeys can be seen clambering through the coffee plants.

The main lodge contains the restaurant, dining hall, veranda, lounge, bar, swimming pool and gift shop. The main lounge boasts open fireplaces, inviting armchairs and overstuffed sofas that threaten to swallow you whole. Deep cranberry and rich chocolate tones provide a warm atmosphere in this coffee-themed lodge. The cozy ambiance is further accentuated by sepia photographs on the walls and low-intensity lighting. A loft above the living spaces provides an inviting area to pour over a good book. The lounge area spills over into the hearth and dining room, which is accented by a tranquil blue water feature and pool outside. Open-air dining is available on the well manicured lawn and sun-drenched terrace outside. As the day draws into evening, the adjacent bar provides a lively atmosphere that can continue your vacation fun well into the night.

An outdoor swimming pool and lounging chairs offer a way to beat the afternoon heat, and a small gift shop on the premises offers a nice mix of souvenirs as well as maps and informative park booklets.

Access

Your adventure begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport, as you are welcomed to Tanzania. It is about 60-minute drive from the airport to the Lodge. After a good night’s sleep and an excellent buffet breakfast, you will venture out to the great northern parks of Tanzania. On our signature fly in and drive back safaris, you will be transferred to the Arusha Air Strip (about 5 minutes) for your 8.00am flight into the Serengeti on the morning following your arrival. On the last day of your safari, a day room is typically reserved so you may relax and enjoy a nice dinner before your departure from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Food and Drink

Arusha Coffee Lodge is home to the reputable Redds African Grill House. The food here is excellent and the menu diverse. Most of the ingredients are supplied by local farms. There is a variety of main stream choices as well as local and African dishes. The bar area can get quite lively at night and is a great place for a few after dinner drinks.

Breakfast consists of eggs, sausage and/or bacon cooked to order, as well as a variety of cereals, cold meats, fresh fruit, yogurt, and toast or pastries. Breakfast times are flexible but is traditionally served between 7-10am.
Lunch is served around 12pm and usually consists of a tasty buffet with endless menu options of entrees, soups, salads, mixed vegetables and deserts.

Dinner is served after 7pm and consists of 3 delicious courses with various choices available off an al la carte menu, including an enticing appetizer, a main meal consisting of meat (beef, pork or chicken) paired with vegetables, and a dainty dessert to finish the meal.

Tea or coffee is served with meals. Other drinks are optional extras.
