In October my husband and I went on an incredible private safari for 4 in Tanzania with another couple. Picking a company over the Internet felt somewhat risky, but Africa Dream Safaris responsiveness and knowledge, not to mention sense of humor, put us at ease quickly.

They spent quite a bit of time answering questions and giving us advice via email and phone so that when we left we were very well prepared with clothing, cameras, binoculars, etc. We spent 10 days touring the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire in a stretched Land Rover with a fantastic and funny guide named Pascal. We saw so much wildlife it was mind boggling at times.

The highlight was definitely the "lion rumble" we came across very early one morning in the base of the crater where we watched two large prides of lions fight over a kill. Trust me - take their advice when they recommends getting down into the crater early; it was WELL worth it. Another highlight was visiting a Maasai Boma where we were invited to dance with the villagers and visit their homes and kindergarten.

After our safari my husband and I flew to Zanzibar where we spent 5 nights at Ras Nungwi where we SCUBA dived, toured Stone Town, and basically relaxed for a few days before heading back to the states. Across the board during the whole trip the accommodations were excellent (Migration Tented Camp was our favorite) and the food was very good. On Zanzibar the food was spectacular. The only (tse tse) fly in the ointment was the transit time to Africa from the States. But that is just the nature of the beast if you will. We took hundreds of photos and I included a handful here.
