It was wonderful! Our guides Jason and Kazeni were fantastic. As you said, William met us at the airport and whisked us through customs and to KIA Lodge and Kazeni's care who took care of everything. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, nzuri sana, nzuri sana.
It was amazing the number of people we came across who were surprised we had learned any Swahili before we left, but equally enjoyable the way the friendly staff became even more friendly and helpful when they saw us trying their own tongue.
As far as the sleeping arrangements, we actually thought the private luxury camp was tied with Plantation Lodge for the top. The whole experience at the private luxury camp was great. The service was akin to a 5-star hotel and the bed was very comfortable. Everyone was pleasant and very helpful with anything we asked. The tent was large and roomy and easy to walk around in. The floor of the tent was smooth so whatever prep work they did to lay the base down was very good. The only complaint we have is that there was too much food. I didn't want to offend so I ate it all and gained 4 pounds on the trip!
If we were to do it again, I really think that more nights at the private luxury camp would be more enjoyable than the lodges. The lodges were nice, but for the total experience and feeling part of the land, the solitude of being out in the middle of the animal's space at the private luxury camp was fantastic.
Thank you so much for your assistance, the safari was absolutely perfect!
