Location

Maramboi Tented Lodge is located in a pristine wildlife corridor between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. The lodge resides on a 25,000-acre private game concession just to the southeast of the shore of Lake Manyara and a few miles (15 minute drive) northwest of the Tarangire Park Gate. The camp is heavily involved in conservation and Maasai community development including anti poaching and construction of schools and medical clinics.

Activities

Due to the Lodge's unique location on the outside fringe of park's boundary, many activities are offered here that are not available at properties inside the park gate. You may partake in a walking safari or a cultural tour of a Maasai village. Walking safaris guided by an armed ranger may be conducted in the late afternoon. This special 1-hour walking safari leads you to the shores of Lake Manyara. These extra activities combined with traditional game drives will certainly provide for a well-rounded experience.

Accommodations

Maramboi Tented Lodge consists of thirty eight (38) spacious tents on large, elevated wooden decks. Each of the large private tents has sewn-in floors and plumbed en suite bathroom facilities, well appointed with classy wash basins, a flushing toilet, and a hot shower. A writing desk, safari chairs, and a comfortable bed draped in marvelous gauze furnish the warm canvas interior. The tents have been raised on platforms of indigenous timber, and each has a charming wooden veranda to facilitate striking views. Inhale the tropical earthy aroma of the surrounding woodlands. This is Africa in its purest form.

Landscape

An impressive landscape from the Rift Valley gives the visitor an amazing natural welcome to an area extraordinarily rich in wildlife. The camp offers stunning views of the Manyara National Park, Rift Valley, Ngorongoro highlands and on clear days even Oldonyo Lengai a sacred mountain to the Maasai. In the green season, the Manyara and Tarangire Pans fill with water which attracts huge flocks of Flamingos and other wading birds. Activities include tradtional game drives, guided walking safaris, bird watching on the shores Lake Manyara and cultural interactions with the Datoga and Maasai, whose bomas populate the adjacent land.
